You will need to be aware that if your printer does not work in Windows 8 or Windows 10, it isn’t always because of the operating system. My printer won’t scan: How can I fix it?
1. Check your USB cable and printer
2. Update your printer drivers
Note: If you do not find it in the list you can double click or tap on the “Other devices” feature and you should have it under that topic.
3. Get the latest printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website
Look on the manufacturer’s website for a Windows 8 or Windows 10 compatible driver for the printer. If there is a new driver listed for your operating system, then uninstall the current one and install the latest one.
Note: If you installed a new driver for the printer, reboot your OS and try again to see if you can scan a document.
4. Run the Printer Troubleshooter
If the problem persists, try running the built-in Printer Troubleshooter. On Windows 8.1, you can quickly locate this tool by opening the Control Panel. Type ‘troubleshoot’ in the search menu, select Troubleshooting and then select View All in the left-hand pane to list all the troubleshooting tools. Select and run the Printer troubleshooter.
On Windows 10, simply go to Settings > Update & Security > select Troubleshoot > select and run the Printer troubleshooter, as shown in the screenshot below.
